Technology
Appian’s proprietary technology utilizes classical pharmaceutical excipients in a unique combination that has the ability to create virtually any type of desirable controlled release rate over a specified time.
Multiple Formulation Approaches to Achieve
AppiForm™ Modular Release System

Appian Labs has developed the AppiForm™ Modular Release System to enable custom-matching of your desired release kinetics. The AppiForm™ platform coupled with our extensive knowledge of drug formulation and controlled release allows us to match virtually any kinetic profile you desire.

Our formulations can be used to provide tablets, minitablets or capsules with unique releasing profiles that include periods of delayed action, controlled decreasing rate or even increasing rate of release as well as zero order delivery.  The unique design of our systems allows for release of several drugs or beneficial agents in sequential mode at constant or decreasing rates.

Appian drug delivery systems can be designed to be rendered muco or bioadhesive for an extended period of time.  These systems are especially desirable for transmucosal applications.

Most highly cited papers in several drug delivery journals:

A simple equation for description of solute release. II: Fickian and anomalous release from swellable devices, (1987) in volume 5, pp. 37-42 — has 565 citations and is ranked first among all papers in the history of the journal.
A simple equation for description of solute release. I: Fickian and non-Fickian release from non-swellable devices in the form of slabs, spheres, cylinders or discs, published also in 1987, in volume 5, pp. 23-36 — 468 citations and is ranked second among all papers in the history of the journal.
